Fun with family

My brother Corey and his family came to California last week to visit my parents so of course we had to tag along and a few of their adventures. I always love it when I can spend time with my family especially since we see so little of each other these days.
                                                                      Colin and Hailey.
Tuesday we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This place is always a hit with the kids although I think Nathan was more interested in catching Pokemon( to be fair there are a ton of water ones at the aquarium he had never seen before). They all really had fun especially with the more hands on sections. I still couldn't get anyone willing to touch and of the creatures in the tide pool section.

                                                      Brady, Nathan, Hailey, And Leah.

Colin loved this water section and was soaked by the time he was done.

After the Aquarium we headed of to Dennis the Menace park in Monterey. I remember playing there as a child although the now have the train fenced off.

Thursday we joined them at Gilroy Gardens. This park is always so much fun for young kids. We started out  having the kids ride a couple rides before heading over to the pond. Nathan really wanted to ride on the paddle boats and the line was super long and slow. By the time we made it on the boats the kids were ready to do anything that didn't require a line so we headed to the splash zone. Colin is definitely turning into a little water baby. He loved playing and splashing in the water. after the water zone we headed back out to ride some of the rides and I was surprised to find that Nathan was too tall for most of the rides the little ones wanted to ride. So we had to go to the other side of the park to find a ride for Nathan Just before the park closed for the day. After leaving my parents treated us all to dinner. We sure did have a great time with Corey, Yoli, Leah, and Hailey.

Quick weekend away

We spent a couple days at the cabin last weekend. The boys had a great time and did not want to leave, Dave and I on the other hand were more then ready to get home to our own bed and some real sleep. The hardest part about trips to the cabin with babies is that they don't sleep while we are there. The first night Colin was literally up from 12am to 5am and then our morning started at 7:30.  I opted to stay at the cabin that afternoon and nap with Colin while everyone went to the lake to play. He sleep better the next night but then fought his morning nap, it was a real struggle. But we all did make it to Pinecrest lake and the boys had a great time in the water. I even took Colin in for a short time and he loved splashing the water. After another really bad night of sleep with a tired but wakeful baby we got up and left for Yosemite. Our stake is in charge of holding church services at the park during the summer and Last Sunday was our wards turn. Dave volunteered to help out so we drove the 3hrs from the cabin and just barely made it on time. Dave gave his talk then we had a picnic with some of our friends before heading home and crashing. I am still not sure I have recovered from the lack of sleep.

The 4th of July

                                      Happy Independence Day!!!

Nine Months

Last Friday Colin officially turned 9 months old. I attempted to take his 9 month pics with the stickers I have but no matter how hard I try he just won't hold still long enough for a good shot. Now that he is so mobile it is pretty much impossible to keep him anywhere "I want " him to stay. Which means that every door in the house is shut and I am constantly discovering all the things that the boys leave on the floor in his mouth. All it takes is a mobile baby to discover how not baby proof your house is. He had been doing just an army crawl for about 2 weeks, every once in a while he would get up on his hands and knees and rock but never able to make a move. That all changed early last week when it all finally clicked and now he is crawling like a pro. He also discover how great it is to stand up next to the furniture and after discovering him twice standing in his crib I quickly lowered the mattress so that he wouldn't go tumbling out. I still can't get him to eat anything that requires chewing actual pieces of food. But he loves his baby food, cereal, and yogurt. Silly boy!

Seriously he is so stinky cute, but constantly on the move so these ended up being more of action shots than anything else.

Well, at least i got this great shot of Brady and Nathan.

That look you get when he has had enough.
