Birthday Boy

For Colin's birthday this year we decide to spend sometime at the Zoo. They had opened a new African exhibit we hadn't seen before and were sure the boys would have a good time. We headed to Fresno after the soccer games and ate a picnic lunch at the park next to the Zoo.

They boys really enjoyed looking at all the animals but were especially excited to find the new African area and see the Rhinos, elephant, and Lions. The weather was perfect for the day and most of the animals were up and moving.

It was really busy, I guess there was a kid fest going on with all the booths around the park. We skip it all except for one that had all these super heroes for the kids to meet. And once Nathan saw Hawkeye and Antman and Spiderman we had to stop for pictures.

The new exhibit was so large and spacious. It all actually looked like one enclosure but if you looked more closely there were fences separating the Elephants, Lions, and Rhinos.

                                                             Brady loved this Cheetah.

We took a break at the Dinosaur pit and let the boys dig for Dinosaur bones while we rested.

After the Zoo we stopped at Texas Roadhouse for dinner, a family favorite and then headed home for cake and ice cream.

12 Months

Saturday Colin turned ONE. I can not believe how fast this past year has gone by. We sure did have a rough start trying to get him healthy and growing. With is failure to thrive status for the first month or so of his life it sure is wonderful to see how big and strong he has become. At his doctors appt he weighed in at 20 lbs. the nurse measured him at 30in. I am certain he is taller, but she had a hard time getting him to hold his head straight. He basically cried and screamed if anyone tried to hold him. basically if he sees mom he insist on being held by me. Sometimes I have to be pretty stealthy if he is happily playing and I want to get past him to another room.

This one sure doesn't make it easy to take good pictures of him. Always moving or wanting to be held.

Birthday Post to follow...

September happenings

It sure seemed like September was a busy month for us. Not that we actually did a lot, but just trying to get back into the routine of school and other activities.

I started doing preschool every morning with Brady, while Nathan is at school. There really were no good options to send him to preschool where we live so I decided I could get him prepared for kindergarten on my own. We will see how that goes. So far he really likes it and actually asks for more work long after I am ready to be done. He has really picked up on his numbers and we are working on the his letters. I also subscribe to Koala Crate, which is a preschool box that he receives once a month with themed learning activities and crafts. We got the first box this month and he really loved it. As part of my home school program I decided that he would really enjoy spending time at grandmas so once a week he leaves with Dave in the morning and gets to spend all day with Grandma. Which is great since it gives us both a break and lets him socialize with some one beside me all the time.

If you ever come to my house and my kitchen is a mess it is because Colin just loves taking everything out of the dishwasher. While entertaining makes it nearly impossible for me to safely load the dishwasher so I tend to wait until everyone is in bed for the night.

Soccer Season Started a couple weeks ago. This is Brady's first year playing and Nathan's 2nd. So far they both love it.

Nathan with his team at the end of the first game of the season.

We were hanging out at soccer practice the other day and I turned to look at Colin and there he was just standing all by himself. He is so ready to be playing with his brothers.

Brady's age group is 3-4yr olds and it is seriously entertaining watching them run around the field chasing the ball and pretty much following none of the rules.
