Christmas 2010

Friday afternoon Nathan and I made some sugar cookies. Nathan loves helping me in the kitchen so I thought it would be lots of fun. He loved making shapes in the dough, but when it came to frosting he was having more fun dipping his whole hand into the bowl and eating it instead of putting any on the cookies.

                                     Rolling out some dough.

                              Having fun the cookie cutters.
                             Playing with the frosting. yum!

Christmas Eve the stockings are hung with care!

Nathan ready for bed in his new pj's.
We had Nathan open one present Christmas eve, which had his Christmas pj's in it. And afterwards all he wanted to do was open another present. I thought it was funny because most of the gifts have been sitting under the tree for the past month.

Pointing at the presents hoping we let him open another.

Checking out his new bouncy horse.

                              going for a  ride!

Giving his new favorite toy a ride. This dinosaur follows him from room to room.

Merry Christmas!

Dave and I received a video camera this year so finally we were able to catch some cute moments on camera. I was so excited to give Nathan his gift from Santa this year and was a little afraid he wouldn't like it. Here are a couple clips from Christmas morning.

  Waking up Christmas morning.

Holiday Update

1. Well winter has finally arrived and as beautiful as it is outside with every thing covered in white I really do hate driving on these roads. At least this winter I have my wonderful suburban. I love its remote start and 4wd. nothing better then getting into the car already nice and warm and driving right through the snow with no problems. There would have been many days in the past couple weeks were I would have been stuck in my own driveway if I still had my passat.

2. It is the 2nd day of December and we already have a ton of snow. The drifts are so high they go right to the top of my fence so now Barney gets out at least once a day. I haven't figured out how to fix this problem because I can't keep him inside all day. It's a little frustrating but I am learning not to completely stress out every time he takes off. I just have to wait and hope he comes home. And he always does, but I am still waiting for the day when ....

3.Last Monday night the weather service sent out a blizzard warning for the area that last all day Tuesday. They were recommending that no one travel and every road in the area was closed. They didn't even bother to plow since the winds were so strong it would just blow the  snow drifts back onto the road. Even Dave had to stay home from work Tuesday. I don't remember ever get this much snow in November before.

4. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to make the trip to Meridian Wednesday. That morning both Dave and I were able to make it to work and by the evening the roads looked ok so we decided to make the trip. It took us over 5 hrs to get there. We made it to bed around 1 am , but really enjoyed being able to have thanksgiving dinner with family.

5. Nathan had a great time hanging with Grandpa and Grandma Bell. We sure do miss them.

6. We headed back to Rexburg around 6 so we could get back at a decent hr, since Dave had to work in the morning.

7. Saturday I took some friends Christmas tree hunting. Dave had to work but I thought I could do it be myself this year. Next time I will wait for Dave it was difficult to hike with an 18month old and find a tree. I was glad to have my friends along so Paul could cut down the tree. We decide to try getting a tree from the Targhee national forest this year. A tag is really cheap so I thought it would be fun to give it a try.

8. Nathan really did enjoy walking in the snow but he tired out quickly. The pickings were pretty slim but I was able to find one that would  work. It definitely isn't a beautiful tree but it works.

9. I have spent the past few days getting all my Christmas decorations up and am feeling a little more festive now! I Love Christmas and am excited to have a white Christmas this year!

10. I have been taking Nathan to the library the past few weeks for story time, craft, and snack. He is a little young still and doesn't really listen yet but it is a great way to get out of the house. Every week he gets a little more interested. And I get to check out books for me to read yeah!
