Monday we stayed close to home and just dressed up after dinner for some trick or treating in the Neighborhood. This was our first year staying home for Halloween and I loved not going anywhere but was kind of disappointed that so few houses got into the Halloween spirit. We walked until the boys were tired and there were very few house handing out candy. I think we might have successful trick or treated at maybe 10 homes, super disappointing. Dave stayed at home so he could hand out candy the the other kids but he only had kids come to the door 3 times. I guess our house is located to far away from the others in the the neighborhood and no wanted to walk all the way down to our court. Now I have lots of left over candy.
Here are my trick or treaters!

Pumpkin Carving
We had a nice laid back Halloween weekend this year and I am exhausted. We spent our Saturday morning at soccer games. There was a 3hr break between the two games so we ran a couple errands around town. grabbed some lunch and made it home early afternoon. I got an exhausted baby down for a nap and then spent the rest of the afternoon carving pumpkins with Nathan and Brady. In the past I basically have had to do all the work, last year the boys wouldn't even touch the gunk on the inside. I was relieved and excited that both boys were willing to jump in and do the work themselves. Nathan decided he wanted 2 designs in his pumpkin. lightning and a pokemon. I drew a very basic lightning design which he loved and then declared that it was The Flash. I helped him trace it onto the pumpkin and then he started carving it on all his own. I thought he did a great job he only made one minor mistake which I fixed with a couple toothpicks. on the other side he wanted a pokemon character so I googles designs and let him pick out on he liked. Then I hand drew it onto some paper and helped him transfer the design onto the pumpkin. he had a great time carving it out and just asked for my help at the bottom where the design was more difficult to cut precisely.
For Brady I drew out a Storm trooper design and once he was happy with it I helped him carve it out.
Both their pumpkins turned out great and they loved having them glowing at night.

Birthday Boy
For Colin's birthday this year we decide to spend sometime at the Zoo. They had opened a new African exhibit we hadn't seen before and were sure the boys would have a good time. We headed to Fresno after the soccer games and ate a picnic lunch at the park next to the Zoo.
They boys really enjoyed looking at all the animals but were especially excited to find the new African area and see the Rhinos, elephant, and Lions. The weather was perfect for the day and most of the animals were up and moving.
It was really busy, I guess there was a kid fest going on with all the booths around the park. We skip it all except for one that had all these super heroes for the kids to meet. And once Nathan saw Hawkeye and Antman and Spiderman we had to stop for pictures.
The new exhibit was so large and spacious. It all actually looked like one enclosure but if you looked more closely there were fences separating the Elephants, Lions, and Rhinos.
Brady loved this Cheetah.
Feeding the Giraffes
We took a break at the Dinosaur pit and let the boys dig for Dinosaur bones while we rested.
After the Zoo we stopped at Texas Roadhouse for dinner, a family favorite and then headed home for cake and ice cream.
