Pumpkin Carving

We finally took the time on Saturday to carve our pumpkin. Unfortunately the one we had pick out from the pumpkin farm started showing signs of rot just a couple days after we brought it home. And Since neither Dave or I want to clean out the rotten insides we ended up making another quick trip to the pumpkin farm to pick out a new one. Nathan had fun telling me what kind of face he wanted on the pumpkin. Two triangle eyes, a triangle nose, and a smiling mouth.

Birthday weekend

A few weeks ago we headed up to the family cabin to spend sometime relaxing for Dave's birthday. We arrived late Thursday night with the expectation of being able to sleep in. But the curtains in the room Nathan stayed in didn't block out the early morning light so he was up bright and early. When I told him he should just go back to sleep he informed me that it was light out so it was time to be awake. We spent Friday just relaxing and hanging out at the cabin. We enjoyed lunch at a local pizza joint and Dave enjoyed taking a nap. Dave's parents showed up Friday night to spend the rest of the weekend with us. Saturday morning we headed to Jamestown to ride the train. Then for lunch we went to Cover's Apple Ranch for some lunch. It is a farm run by a Mennonite family. Spent the rest of the evening just relaxing and the headed home Sunday after lunch. It was so nice to be able to get away without any worries for just a few days.

Ready to go for a ride! We were pulled by engine #3. Which is the steam engine that was used in the film Back to the Future III

2 Months

Monday I took Brady in for his 2 month check up. He sure is growing fast. Part of me is sad that he is already out of the newborn stage but I am excited for all the future milestones. Unfortunately he still does not sleep like Nathan did, maybe my expectations are too high but I am finding it exhausting only getting a 4 hr stretch at night. By six weeks Nathan was sleeping 6hrs. I only remember because that is when I went back to work. Mostly he is a happy baby and I just love when he smiles at me.

He now weighs 11 lbs 0.6oz and is 22inches long.

Swank Farms Pumpkin Patch

It is that time a year again. I always forget how much I enjoy Halloween especially now that I have kids. I love watching Nathan experience all the fun this time of year brings. I really wanted to take Nathan to a pumpkin patch this year, but not just one where you go pick out a pumpkin. Over the years I have seen others post about these great places that are so much more then a pumpkin patch. Really they are a farm, corn maze, Halloween experience. I was excited this year when I remembered that we now live close to one of these farms. So Saturday afternoon we headed over to Swank Farms corn maze and pumpkin patch. It really has gotten so much bigger then I remember it being several years ago. Nathan had fun enjoying all the different activities.
Of course I brought my camera but forgot to check the battery level, so I ended up taking most of the pictures with my phone.
Getting a ride on the pedal cars with Dad.

Nathan wouldn't get on the giant Jumping Pillow by himself, but had a great time jumping with Dad.
Taking shots from a corn cannon.

Nathan was the most excited to ride on the cow train.

Fun times riding on these bouncing horses.

                                                         Playing on the farm equipment

After getting our fill of fun we went through the kid size corn maze and then picked out a pumpkin to take home. What a great way to spend our Saturday!
