Lake Powell
Many of our plans for this summer were changed because Covid-19 shut everything down. For the past year our family has been planning a Griffith reunion to Disneyland. we were suppose to go at the end of June but since it is closed everything had to be cancelled. Nathan had worked really hard this past year earning money so he could buy himself a light-saber from the specialty shop in new star wars land. We didn't want our whole summer ruined so as soon as we realized our original plans were not possible we switched our focus and decided it was the perfect year to take the family on a trip to Lake Powell. Dave has been wanting to go for a while and I have such great memories going there as a kid with my cousins. we invited Kerri and her family and made reservations for the 4th of July weekend. And it did not disappoint. We spent 3 days exploring the lake and it was beautiful and fun.
View from our room at the resort.
We spent one our days with Dave's Aunt Jan and family at their house boat. The kids had a blast swimming and playing in the sand. We tried out paddle boards, jet skis, a water slide off the house boat , and a giant tarp slide down the sand dune where the boat was beached.
The kids loved to swim every chance they got!
Day 3 we headed up a narrow channel and then hiked to see the Rainbow bridge. it was over 100 degrees and the kid were not thrilled that we made them hike but the end view was worth it. After wards we found a small cove to swim in and cool off, then headed to Dangling Rope Marina for a ice cream treat.
