Playground

We have been in this house now for nearly 2 years and our backyard continues to be a muddy, weed filled mess. We decided several weeks ago it was time to make some much needed changes. We had a stamped concrete patio poured during the winter so it is time to try and clean up the rest of the yard. First step was to complete the play area we had planned for the boys.

I spent 3 days last week hand tilling the ground around the play structure. This involved using an axe pick to turn over all of the dirt and pull out the biggest overgrowth of weeds. It was exhausting work and I still haven't recovered.

Then on Saturday my parents came over to help and watch Nathan's baseball game. My Dad and Dave started by cementing the post for the sand box then we laid down some weed block and got started on moving the playground bark into the box. We took a short break to watch Nathan's game and then got back to work. That portion was mostly finished by 6pm and then Dave and Dad finished up building the sandbox. Everything was completed  at around 7:30 and we then enjoyed some cake and ice cream to celebrate my Dad's birthday. I am so grateful that my parents were willing to come help. It really was exhausting work and we were all sunburned and exhausted by the end. Even the boys helped and I was surprised by how long they stuck with it. It is sure nice to have the play yard complete.

next up on the to do list... some grass.....
