A couple Sundays ago we loaded up our car and drove to Las Vegas to join up with the rest of my family for a family reunion. We all live in 4 different states and rarely are all together at the same times. It was so great to spend a few days just hanging out and playing with cousins we don't get to see as often as we would like. The reunion didn't actually start until Monday afternoon but we wanted to travel a day early so we could do something besides just drive on Monday.
We arrived in Vegas around 4pm and checked into our rooms at the Circus Circus. We then headed down to there small water park at the hotel and enjoyed spending time in the splash pad and pool. Colin just loved the pool and would have just floated all night if we let him. After we got some pizza for dinner and then took the kids to play some of the carnival midway games they have in the center of the casino for the kids.
Then next morning we had plans to join Kerri and family at Wet n wild. and were happily surprised to have Corey and family meet up with us to. There flight from Colorado arrived earlier that morning.
The Kids absolutely loved playing in the water with their cousins.
After some fun in the sun we quickly picked up some groceries and the head over to the Tahiti Village Resort where we were all staying for the next few days. Unfortunately when we showed up at check in time our rooms were not ready. I guess they were short on house keeping staff and hadn't been able to get our rooms cleaned and prepped. We ended up spending about 2 hrs in the resort pool while we waited to get into our rooms. by the time we did get into our rooms everyone was exhausted so we grabbed a quick dinner at my favorite burger joint Smashburger and then called it a night.
The boys were super excited to spend every night sharing rooms with their cousins.
I believe the eventually spread out into separate beds.

Daycamp
This year my mom offered to take Nathan to the cub scout day camp held in Hollister because we will be out of town for the one he would normally go to. I was excited for him to get to spend a week at such an awesome day camp and knew he would have a great time. I may not enjoy scouting that much but Nathan enjoys every minute of it. Here's to hoping that they can find a leader locally that can help him continue to love scouting instead of me (I was the cub scout den leader the past 3years but told them I needed a break) who finds it painfully stressful and not fun at all.
Nathan got to spend five days immersed in all things cub scouts and he sure had a blast. It is all he could talk about when I picked him up Friday night. Some of his favorite activities were archery and BB guns.
I think I may need to figure out a way to get him to the same camp next year!!!

Nathan's Baptism
On June 10 we gathered with family for Nathan's baptism. It was wonderful to have both sets of grandparents attend. Both Grandmas each gave wonderful talks and Baptism and the Holy Ghost. He Baptized and Confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by his dad. Nathan had this nervous excitement for days and kept asking all day Saturday when it was time for him to put on his white clothes. He has been trying really hard the past few months to be better about listening and obeying his parents. Always trying his best to stay out of trouble. I love seeing him try so hard to make good choices and hope he keeps that desire for years to come. Sometimes he reminds me so much of myself when I was younger and my only real fear was disappointing my parents and grandparents. Probably the reason we are both such rule followers. And really I hope that never changes for him because he is becoming such a great kid, warm , kind, and welcoming to all he meets.

Memorial Day
Monday we thought we would go to one of the local reservoirs so the boys could swim. The first one we tried was full and they wouldn't allow anymore cars in, but the boys didn't want to go home since we had already packed the car and brought lunch. So we ended up turning around and heading to the forebay right by our home. The boys all had fun but the water sure was cold. Colin was pretty tired since we arrived right at nap time, which meant he wanted to be held the entire time. It was a nice relaxing day.
Now just to finish off this week of school and our crazy busy short summer begins. By the way when did summer vacation only become 2 months long?
